Thank You BLS Volunteers
As Chair of BLS I wish to thank all those involved with the Hansa 303 Irish Championship over the weekend 1-2 August. Numerous emails, letters and calls from participants, their friends and families I’ve received say what a great weekend it was and comment on the friendliness and hospitality shown to them by all the volunteers; I have to say it has made me extremely proud to be chairing such a great organisation.
One young lad who we have known for some time, Nathan McKee, will have a lasting memory of sailing with an Olympian, Ryan Seaton, who kindly said he would take brother Marks place in the Championship when Mark was called into work. Although Hansa 303’s are not the usual kind of boat Ryan would usually sail he was ready to give it his best shot. After the sailing was over for the dayRyan then posed for photographs with a group of our visiting sailors.
Debbie Blachford from RYA Sailability said she would like to bottle up the weekend and take back home with her as the Championship had been such a success but it is all thanks to you the volunteers who made it an outstanding success, I don’t think any other group of people could have done it.
Of course the icing on the cake was Aled Duffin-Murray winning the new Carrickfergus Championship trophy, crewed on Saturday by Rory Moore and on Sunday by Brian Courtney.
Thank you everyone.
