Try-a-Boat!

Our annual Try-a-Boat day is Saturday 21st May when it’s Open House, or rather Open Boat, at Carrickfergus Harbour from 1pm to 3pm. Along with Carrickfergus Sailing Club and Carrickfergus Sea Cadets, BLS will be offering an open session to the general public to ‘Try a Boat’, which could be anything from a kayak through all manner of sailing boats to a power cruiser. Black Santa presentation

At the annual Good Samaritans Service in Belfast Cathedral on Sunday February 7, more than 220 charities received a share of the money raised during the 2015 Black Santa Sit-out – and Belfast Lough Sailability were lucky enough to be one of them, along with some of the local charities we often interact with. We were delighted to host a Royal Yachting Association Northern Ireland run, SportNI sponsored weekend training camp at Carrickfergus Marina and Harbour on 23 & 24 January for coach/ volunteer training towards The Paralympic Pathway. Double win for Belfast Lough Sailability

On Friday 20 November 2015, the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) National Volunteer Awards took place at the Royal Institute of Engineers in London. Each one of the award winners had been nominated by fellow volunteers, sailing club members or other members of the boating community in appreciation of their contribution which exceeded all expectations. North Channel Challenge

Carrickfergus-based Laser sailors Frank MacFarlane, Kyle Mercer and Neil Calvin were taking on the North Channel, sailing single-handed from Black Head at the mouth of Belfast Lough to Portpatrick on the Scottish coast on Sunday 13 September 2015, raising funds for Mencap in Northern Ireland, PIPS Charity and Belfast Lough Sailability. Championship Event for Sailors with Disabilities

 

Carrickfergus’s First Ever Championship for Sailors with Disabilities… A warm invitation is extended to sailors with disabilities to participate in the Hansa 303 Irish Championship 2015 to be sailed on Belfast Lough, off Carrickfergus, County Antrim, Northern Ireland on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd August 2015.
