Volunteer Awards @ Belfast City Hall
We had an amazing evening on Saturday 5th November in Belfast City Hall. The High Sheriff, Alderman Jim Rodgers O.B.E., had kindly nominated Belfast Lough Sailability as one of his chosen charities and granted us the use of the magnificent Great Hall to hold our Volunteer Recognition Awards Dinner. The event was sponsored by Arigna Developments and Belfast Harbour.
From 6pm people met for a reception in the Rotunda of the City hall before taking their seats in the Great Hall where High Sheriff, Jim Rodgers warmly welcomed everyone.
The sumptuous meal provided by Jane’s Kitchen was enjoyed by everyone and there were a lot of mouths to feed as the evening was very well attended.
Once dinner was over, the most important part of the evening had arrived by way of the prize giving.
The High Sheriff presented Paul Green with the coveted Mary Popper Perpetual Trophy.
Jeannie Bunting presented the Bunting Trophy for Outstanding Contribution to Bill Kavanagh.
Bob & Christine Harper presented the Breakaway Adventure Award to Garry Crothers from Foyle Sailability.
Dominic and Una Lynch from Arigna Developments presented the Arigna Trophy to Colin Craig.
Many more of our volunteers were presented with Certificates, RYA Logbook Certificates and Achievement Awards as well as Millennium Awards in recognition of their hard work and commitment.
The evening was a spectacular success – we are very lucky to have so many dedicated and talented people on board. Thank you to every single person no matter what you did to support Belfast Lough Sailability and make it such a success – in all weather conditions.
